The 10th and 11th of March, 2023, were two days filled with fun, excitement and entertainment for us students. It was, after all, the Flagship event of Liberal Arts’ very own magazine - ECHO - Louder for those in the Back ! Our event’s name was ECHcentric and this time our theme was ‘Everything Everywhere All At Once’. After weeks of planning, brainstorming and having team meetings, and days of working hard in the basement after college hours and practising for performances and making everything look colourful and artistic, it all boiled down to having art-themed stalls, art exhibitions where we displayed our own students’ artworks and write ups and an immersive Van Gogh 360 experience.
Prior to the event, we had sent out forms to the students, inviting them to submit their own artworks, prose and poetry. All their submissions were set up in our Quadrangle and contributed towards making the place look lively and colourful.
Apart from these submissions, there were many stalls put up by each team of Echo as well.
The Networking Team’s stall, titled ‘7 Samundar Paar’, was a very engaging stall where people had to complete puzzles of monuments from around the world in under 1 minute and 30 seconds. The winners were rewarded with gone mads.
Then we have the Content Team’s stall which tested people’s abilities to identify and differentiate between a wide range of AI and Real paintings. There was also information provided about the controversies regarding AI versus Real Art. Winners of the game were also given gone mads.
Up next we have the Editorial Team’s stall, ‘All About The Monet’. This was a stall for Live Submissions and people were asked to draw and write small verses or pieces of poetry on the spot and their work was put up on the boards for display.
And last but not least, we have a stall put up by our very own Podcast Team - Curious and Connected. It was an engaging stall where people could reveal things they had never done before and also express their inner poets through slam poetry.
On the second day, we had our Van Gogh art exhibition. The ‘Starry Nights’ painting was recreated by our very own Art and Design Team and was set up in the quadrangle behind dark curtains. A lot of fairy lights were also added in the setup to add the magical touch and give the 360 experience.
On both days we also had live jukebox performances by our students and played music in our quadrangle as the event went on.
People really enjoyed this event and there was a lot of engagement as they visited the stalls and played the games, made live art and poetry, danced along to the music and visited and admired the stunning Van Gogh painting. Everyone seemed to have a lot of fun and the event was filled with happiness, laughter and good vibes. Us members also felt very satisfied and proud as our hard work had also paid off.
