“Oh yes, she’s just more capable?”

“It’s okay, some people are just better.”

“Oh yeah, she’s just so much more extroverted, of course she’ll get it. You can try out for something else.”

“Maybe if you could speak louder.”

“Only if you could write better.”

“Of course, you wouldn’t have thought of that, it's fine some people are just smarter.”

“If only you chose that path.”

“Maybe wear something else, your arms don't look good in that.”

“Don’t wear that short of a dress, your legs look fat.”

“It's your fault that they left, maybe there is something wrong with you. Ever thought of that?”

“Can’t you just do what is asked for?”

“How selfish, think of others for once.”

“Why must you let me down?”

“I expected better.”

“...”

Ever thought how words affect others?

Ever thought about how that simple taunt made someone feel?

Ever thought about how that one snide comment made another feel?

Ever thought about how that one ‘compliment’ affected someone?

Ever thought about how your honest opinion made someone feel?

Ever just thought before you spoke?

There are so many things,

that affect people in ways that you can’t even imagine.

Your one comment, one word, one sentence,

can not just ruin their day, but also their self-image,

the way they talk to themselves, their personality,

and their own selves.

And this damage is worse than a thousand knives to the heart,

it damages in ways that sometimes even time can’t heal.

So, perhaps do humanity a favour,

and empathise with your surroundings,

even if the world doesn’t seem to do the same,

it's always better to care than not at all.
