A Day of Celebration, Laughter, and Liberal Arts: Our Second Anniversary!

January 13, 2025, marked the second anniversary of the Department of Liberal Arts, and what better way to celebrate than with an adventurous day out? This year, we took an industrial and cultural trip to Model Village Rangoli Gardens in Bangalore, an interactive space designed to showcase Karnataka’s rural life—though, to be fair, it was more of a staged experience than an actual village. But that didn’t stop us from making the most of it!

The site had replicas of traditional houses, staged craft demonstrations, and displays of Karnataka’s rural heritage. While the “villagers” were more performers than actual artisans, the experience still gave us a glimpse into the aesthetics of village life and traditional practices. We explored everything from pottery to old-school farming tools, even if some of it felt a little too curated.

But the real highlight of the trip wasn’t the village itself—it was us. After the tour, we threw ourselves into traditional games like Lagori (Seven Stones), which quickly turned into a competitive showdown filled with laughter, friendly sabotage, and some surprisingly good dodging skills. Then came the dancing—what started as a few people grooving turned into a full-blown department-wide dance-off. By the end of it, we were exhausted but buzzing with energy.

Between the games, the impromptu singing on the bus ride back, and the sheer chaos of trying to organize a group photo, this trip was more than just a heritage visit. It was a day of bonding, of stepping away from assignments and deadlines, and just enjoying each other’s company. Here’s to another year of learning, exploring, and making memories together—because at the end of the day, that’s what being part of this department is really about!
