The Bannerghatta Road Campus marks a significant milestone as it celebrates a decade since its establishment. Over the years, the campus has witnessed numerous transformations, both in its architectural landscape and the scope of services provided. Among those who have observed these changes most closely are the non-teaching staff, such as the Akkas and the Security Guards or the Annas, whose unwavering commitment ensures the welfare of the campus community.

In recognition of their contributions, ECHO sought to engage with several members of this staff, inviting them to reflect upon the changes they have experienced and to share aspects they have particularly appreciated. Both the akkas and the security staff actively participated in the Sports Day conducted by the campus. Notably, their involvement was distinguished by exceptional enthusiasm and performance, even surpassing that of several student groups, despite it being their inaugural participation.

The first staff member, a security guard named Rana, has been with the CHRIST campus for a little more than a decade. On asking, he had been with the institution a few years before the BRC campus was inaugurated. He believes things have greatly improved since then, feeling much happier since the improvements have been made for us students. He favours the game room in the basement a lot.

The next staff member, an Akka named Deepa with six years of service, expressed her appreciation for the recent enhancements, noting the development of the sports turf on the terrace as a personal highlight. She recalled Sports Day as a memorable and enjoyable deviation from her routine duties and conveyed a sense of quiet anticipation for future innovations on campus.

A security guard whose name was Ganesh, also with six years of experience at the campus, offered a thoughtful perspective on the changes, acknowledging both their positive impact and the increased responsibilities they entail. He identified the game room and other facilities on the lower level as noteworthy improvements. His optimistic outlook and approachable demeanour exemplify the enduring spirit of the campus community.

Another security guard named Lal Bahadur, with two years of service, reflected on the institution’s ongoing development with a blend of enthusiasm and emerging maturity. He affirmed his support for the campus’s efforts to advance and adapt, recognizing the intent to foster progress and enhance the student experience.

These testimonies reveal that, although many students may not have witnessed the campus’s journey from inception, there remains a dedicated group of individuals who have not only observed these changes but have contributed to the institution’s growth and success. Their willingness to embrace each new development underscores a shared commitment to the campus’s continual evolution. The sense of renewal and progress they describe is reminiscent of the incremental updates that enhance a system, imbuing the campus with vitality and purpose for all who enter its gates.
